Originally a Renaissance lute, converted to Baroque configuration. 75.5cm fretted mensur. 11 ribs of birdseye maple with rosewood spacers. Ebony and ironwood floral inlay on neck and pegbox. Triple rose of Hapsburg double headed eagles. Ebony and pearl spade. $4,500

Below is another type of 13 course Baroque lute from a completely different design standpoint. Copied after J.C. Hoffmann, Leipzig 1750. Brussels Museum. 11 ribs of curly maple, birdseye maple or yew (pictured) with ebony veneered neck, pegbox, rosewood spacers, and highly arched fingerboard. Very deep in the body. 70.5cm mensur. Price $3,800
