Theorboes and Archlutes I have
put theorboes, archlutes, and chitarroni all in one page as a generic subject,
since there is some confusion on the different names. It depends on the
layout of the string courses, the tuning, and the string length.
This is a 14 course archlute after Magno Dieffopruchar a venetia, Vienna C45. 6x2-67cm.,8x1- 142cm. Thirty one ribs of shaded yew with elaborate floral inlay of ebony and holly on neck and neck extension. Tuned to g' in regular Renaissance tuning, at A415. Price $10,000.
A shorter rosewood archlute with string lengths of 64cm and 120cm. Price $8,500
A rosewood theorbo loosely based on Wendelio Venere, Vienna C47. This one had 15 single courses at 82cm. and 145cm. Price $9,000. This is a huge subject all by itself . Please speak with me about what you need.
An ebony theorbo based on an Edlinger shell. The shell is thinner than a dime. Lawrence K. Brown, Luthier 13 Sunset Lane Asheville, NC 28804 USA 828-254-5828 larryandrobin@charter.net |
